Procedure
There are two main methods to perform nose surgery.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and begins with an incision on the inner part of the nostrils for lifting a flap and gaining access to underlying cartilage and bone. The needed addition by reductions or grafts by removing tissues gives the best result. Then the flap is closed with suture. The entire procedure lasts for one or two hours. In most cases, there is no need for hospitalization and thus performed on an outpatient basis.
Recovery
If nasal packing is used in the surgery then it has to stay in nostrils for one to seven days. The outside stitches, if done, are removed within the next seven to ten days. The inner stitches dissolve themselves over the period of time. To keep nasal bones in place and reduce swelling, the nasal splint is kept in the nose for seven days. You can resume light activities such as returning to school or work in the next seven or ten days. Avoid rigorous and strenuous activities after six to eight weeks.
